“Breaking Cover” by Michele Rigby Assad

The Detroit Cast spoke with Michele Rigby Assad about her book “Breaking Cover: My Secret Life In The CIA And What It Taught Me About What’s Worth Fighting For,” detailing her training and experiences as a CIA agent and counterterrorism expert and her dramatic efforts to evacuate Iraqi Christian refugees from the clutches of ISIS.  The threats were real; the assignments perilous. Assad spent over a decade in the agency―a woman leading some of the most highly skilled operatives on the planet, secretly serving in the most treacherous areas of the Middle East, and at risk as a target for ISIS. Assad has at last been cleared to drop cover and tell her story: one of life-or-death stakes; of defeating incredible odds; and of discovering a faith greater than all her fears.
